紙の家族 (Kami no Kazoku, or “paper family” in Japanese)

The sculpture is 3 feet by 5 feet and occupies an 8-foot-wide space downtown Battle Creek and features origami lily pads and frogs with a single lily. The piece embodies learning at all stages of life and the strength of relationships between family and friends by shaping metal to emulate folded paper. The piece was created with fellow artist and friend Wayne Edmonds for the 2021 Battle Creek Origami Sculpture Exhibit with a nod to my daughter Lillee, and Wayne’s partner Sharon, who collects frogs.
